A pole tent is a conventional-style tent made much like the famous circus and revival tents of yesterday. They come with center, quarter, side poles, curtains, stakes, and sometimes additional half poles. Some of the smaller pole tents (e.g. 50' x 80' in size) may use push poles for centers, while larger sizes use a traditional sectional pole with a hand or electric crank for lifting the bail rings. Center poles are anchored by plates at the base and cable guide lines run off to the sides and are staked into the ground. If maintained properly, even the largest of pole tents can handle heavy storms and stress loads (up to 80 mph. winds).
